[Iceland] Þórsmörk

It has been a while since the last I wrote something here. I have been in Italy, and right now I am busy at school. I hope I'll finish the Iceland-pictures as soon as possible, to continue with my pictures from Italy.
Back in July I went to Iceland. In my last post I wrote about exploring the South, and more posts about backpacking will follow. When our busticket for the busses in the South expired, we decided to drive to Þórsmörk and hike to Landmannalaugur. Þórsmörk is a beautiful valley, with some beautiful Icelandic forests. The valley is surrounded by the giant glacier Myrdálsjökull with the dangerous volcano Katla and the famous glacier Eyjáfjallajökull. The giant river Krossá creates beautiful patterns of streams and gorges. This valley looks different than other parts of Iceland, but it is really one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The name Þórsmörk means "Thor's forest" and there are several interesting sagas that describe this place.

We spent just one afternoon in Þórsmörk, and decided to hike on a mountain. We just looked around and decided to cross the river from our campsite and then we hiked up on a mountain called Rettarfell. The view from top of the mountain was so beautiful, even though the weather was really bad.
